How to draw a Cartoon Ostrich step by step for beginners with this how-to video and step-by-step drawing instructions. Easy animals to draw cute and easy for kids and everyone.
Step 1
Sketch ostriches using simple sharp lines. Eyes and pupils are made with a circle while the mine is made of triangles. The ratio is not 100% accurate because we are creating an animated version of the animal.
Step 2
Next, add colorful shapes behind the border. The eyes are full of white while the pupils are blue. The beak is orange and the skin is colored ... a skin color! The feathers are dark and the circle at the bottom is brighter.
You can also add some colors on the outline. The black border is beautiful, but even more interesting when a border is filled with a darker version of the color found on the nearest shape.
Step 3
Select the gradient fill tool and add a second color to each image. Your goal is to add some shadows on the illustration using the darker version of the color found inside the selected image. For example, the lower part of the mine may be darker while the upper part is filled with a brighter version of the same color.
Step 4
Remember when I said that outline and solid shapes had to be done separately? The reason is quite simple. I want to create additional shadows using new shapes as seen below. Therefore, these new elements are placed between contours and solid shapes for more efficient integration.
These new shapes can be filled with a darker version of colors found on simple shapes. Create new shadows around the eyes, below the mines, on the neck, body and legs.
Step 5
To finish off with a realistic illustration, make sure these new shadows are partially hidden. Indeed, it is a good idea to play with the opacity of these new elements to create a more subtle result.
Step 6
In this step, you can draw new shapes (all filled with white) to represent the highlights on the animated ostrich. These new shapes must also be transparent and nearly invisible.
