Start by sketching the legs and feet first. Use two long curves. Note that the curves are usually curved in the same direction. Connect them at the top with a curve and at the bottom with a straight line.
Outline the other foot and lower leg. Use a long, double curve back to itself, to outline the top and bottom of the foot. Extend a curve upwards to form the back section of the lower leg and connect it to the first leg with a curve.
Draw a curve over the first foot, outlining the opening of the ballet boot.
Draw a curve along the length of the second foot, again outlining the top of the slipper.
Draw another curve along the length of the second shoe, without connecting it at the top. This outlines the bottom or sole of the shoe.
Draw a pair of parallel curves across the first leg. Then the lines are parallel above and below them, as if they were passing behind it. This shows the ribbons used to create laces for the shoe.
Draw two sets of parallel curves on the second leg, indicating the ribbons.
