To start Courage, we first need to draw a large pea shape that will become the bulk of his body.
As you can see from the image on the left, this pea shape is slightly curved to the left.
Next, draw the outline of Courage's mouth and nose, about 1/3 away from his body.
Next, give Courage two very large oval eyes, and draw the bottom half of his mouth. Remove all overlapping lines as you do.
Next, draw Courage's pupils in his eyes and give him two thin, arched eyebrows.
We can also draw Courage's ears in this step. You can see that his ears start thinnest near his head and widen as they point outward.
Arms and legs are often difficult features to draw on both cartoons and actual characters. But, Courage is the exception to this rule.
Draw Courage's arms very simply with a clover-like pattern for his feet.
Repeat exactly the previous step for Courage's other arm and leg, while also giving him a small tuft for his tail.
Currently, Courage is nearing completion. All that's left to do is draw in the final details, such as a few strands of beard, a large spot on the back, and a few curves under the eyes.
