First, draw a long vertical rectangle with rounded corners to get the main shape of the traffic light.
Divide the rectangle from the preview step into three equally spaced parts. Each of these should be square (or close to one). In case you find the rectangles too short or too long to fit them, you can lengthen or shorten it as needed.
Inside each square section draw a circle to show forward-facing traffic lights.
Draw a set of visors on one side of a traffic light to show that there are also lights in that direction. You don't need to draw these over the forward facing lights as they will be hard to see when looking directly at them.
Draw a second set of visors facing the opposite direction on the other side of the traffic light. Try and make them symmetrical to the first set.
On top of the traffic light, add a small section that looks like a "cap" as shown in the example.
In this case, the traffic lights will be placed on poles (instead of hanging down as they usually do). Indicate some point of the pole by drawing a small part that it will come out of and then just add a little hint of the pole itself. Leave the bottom open to help show that it's going deeper.
Once you've got all the parts outlined on your drawing with a black pen, marker, or darker pencil lines. Just make sure to make any edits (if needed) first.
Finally to color the traffic light you can make it yellow with a hint of orange. Make the lights red, yellow and green (from top to bottom). An easy way to get yellow/orange is to use colored pencils. First, make it light yellow and then go over it with a little bit of orange.
